Well, I always made sure that my impressive army was so darn impressive that I could wipe out *any* opponent without suffering too many losses. I even went through the trouble of getting Expert Diplomacy -- combined with Rogues, courtesy of the expansion pack "Armageddon's Blade" -- which made every creature on the map wanting to join made. Wait long enough with defeating all guarding monsters, and you've got yourself an army of "Zounds of Evil Eyes" or a "Throng of Ogre Magi". Sweeeet!
I remember vividly how in one of my games I waited so long to attack my opponent I had an army of over 1700 Halberdiers all the way up to 50+ Archangels. The Castle always was my favorite. Suffice to say I was hitting the "End Turn" button more than I was moving around - I think my characters were waiting (in game) for over a year before they could thrash the butts of my Necropolis and Tower opponents.

Wow, I never realized they had an expansion pack. What was so special about Rogues?
I thoroughly enjoyed all towns/races. The barbarians were pretty fun (I loved Cyclops). Inferno was definately up there, nothing is cooler than watching Devils and Archdevils teleport all over the place. Tower had amazing ranged capabilities (Magi/Arch Magi, Chained Goblins, Titans). Ohhh I could go on all day. However, I wasn't too fond of the Forest/Elven city. It seemed rather enjoyable, but I never managed to get very far with them...
