You guys did this and moved on in October I think, but I got Dawn of War over the holiday...and I was blown away.
I was unfamiliar with Warhammer 40k..but I really like the setting. Awesome graphics, shockingly violent, and just plain fun. The innovations of morale and holding areas of ground make this game much more warlike than the more base-oriented RTS's. It's got good voice acting too (well...Chaos is good in theory but annoys me...snivelling little heretics lol). Very importantly, they cut down on the micromanagement, although there is some with the leaders and tech trees. And as an aside I think that was the coolest intro ever. The engine is really cool, though they should give your camera more options, because I know everything's already 3d and highly detailed. What're they afraid of?
Unfortunately, my rave is cut short, just like the game. Why was there only one short campaign? I need more. Even if they didn't have voice acting and little intros - the gameplay is what I care about. Even if it's the same campaign played from different sides in their efforts to decimate Tartarus or keep it safe. Orks running over the Imperial cannon fodder would have been fun too. Call me greedy, but I want more races, more maps, and more campaigns..because I really do not like playing RTSs online (56k disconnections, anyone?). I'll snatch up any expansion or sequel immediately.
