I would keep Mission as well. For some reason though I have NEVER been able to complete the sand people quest peacefully. I Enter with the Robes on and everything is fine.

Then before I get to talk they open fire on me.

I would say keep mission and Hk-47 for this quest. Once its finished go back to the ship and pick up Bastila and finish the rest of her quest.
