Unarmed Combat is surprisingly very lethal in Fallout 2.

The trick to killing with an unarmed hit is not by damage, but by scoring a fatal critical. A target can have hundreds of HP, but if you score a fatal critical, you can deal only 2-4 Dmg and still instant-kill the target. A perk at level 21 will ensure that all your unarmed hits score as criticals.

ADD] There's a perk that gives you a better of scoring a fatality on a critical too. It's called, "Better Criticals".

As your skill in unarmed combat rises, you gain access to more deadly unarmed skills. There is a very powerful unarmed weapon in the game too, and it is easily gotten.

It is actually possible to solo the game using nothing but your fists to do the talking. No guns, no weapons, just your fists.

Even for the last fight, bwerwahahahaha!

ADD] STR can be left at 5 or 6, but AGI is always maxed at 10 for a player who wants to follow the route of unarmed combat. AGI can be 9 if you don't mind using a Perk to change it to 10.

Fallout 2 shining strength is in its' ability to let you win the game the way you want to. Whether it be by blazing glory or diplomatic means.

My usual choice of tag skills is Unarmed and Small Guns, with the 3rd one being either Doctor or Speech.

I do not use cheats in Fallout 2, because the game lets you play no matter what your strengths are.

So just sit down and decide what you want your character to be and stick to it.
