They do still make them (Dragonlance 3E campaign setting is on the shelves) and even if they didn't I don't see how it would be pointless. Tolkien has been dead for years yet they're still making games, movies and books. The Dragonlance novels alone are the most successful ever in the history of D&D. The Dragonlance movie is happening so I guess if successful they will have to make a game then, although we're talking years down the line
