Welcome, No Name!
Well, I haven't taken my archer thru yet, but there are comp long bows all over the place once you kill various goblins, etc. about three minutes into the game!
As for a Paladin--why not? I'm having a blast playing the different kits and Undead Hunter is high on the list (as in already started the game with a pally gal). I've already taken a Blade (bard kit) thru and she was *kick-ass*!!! I have a wizard slayer going thru now, but I am definitely not enjoying it nearly as much.
Play with it and have fun.
