I've put in at least 100 hours, and am at level 30; so it is hard to come to grips with the fact that I am "just starting" the main quest; but I believe you.

I went back to the shrine at Mar Gaan, and questioned everyone, again, except the Daedra (whom I taunted and then killed); but was not able to get an invite to kill anything slipping through the Ghostgate/Ghostfence or threatening the village. Would anyone be willing to give more specific advice?

Oh, this should have been in my original pack of questions, but it has been so long I forgot it: At Balmora Mage Guild, the Khajit alchemist (forgot name) had some notes stolen by Gabalier (sp?). I searched Gabalier, his room (including locked chest) and the rest of the guild for a while and then gave up. Where is this item?
