1) It is generally agreed that wizards are the most versatile at high levels in D&D, is this tru in Morrowind? I am a power player.
No, wizards are probably the hardest class to play with and the weakest class. Once you have a fighter with a large two handed weapon, especially if its enchanted you can romp through the game. Wizards suffer from limited magicka, weak spells (unless you make your own) and all the usual limitations. I wouldn't choose it for your first outing, although i'm certainly enjoying my wizard character now. Just remember that you can completely define your class, so there is nothing to stop your fighter deciding to train up some magic ability...the flexibility is fantastic, and you are by no means 'stuck' in the class you choose

3) My mini map won't work. The larger area map works but the local area doesn't.
Could you be more specific about what you mean by 'not working'?

5)tips?
At the very beginning of the game, you'll be given papers and told to visit a certain somebody. It's worth doing that near the start because he'll give you money to buy some kit which will be a real help when you're poor. Apart from that, join the thieves guild first (assuming your skills qualify) - its in the same city as the above contact - you can use that to get bounties off your head cheaply, and then pick a guild and take it from there.
