Oh and also, it's a good idea at the beginning not to use the silt striders etc too much. As long as you're not in too much danger of dying at the very sight of a cliff racer, it's really helpful to walk where you want to go. You just get alot more opportunity to practice your skills (plus it's cheaper). And you get to admire the beautiful graphics. Walk outside when it's night and just stand and admire the sky. It's really gorgeous.
And quick save often! The game has an annoying habit of dumping you back to the desktop on a fairly regular basis. There's not a lot you can do about it so just take precautions!
