First of all, why does this even matter? oh well, my two cents' worth:

You have to eliminate Anomen and Keldorn, since they are too gentlemanly to hit a woman (except Bodhi, but she doesn't count), especially a former comrade. the women may have most of the mages, but the guys have all the decent thieves.
Yoshi+Invisibility+Cloak of Non-Detection+Celestial Fury+5x backstab=dead mages. Same for Jan, but with Cutthroat.

You also have to look at the design perspective. For character creation, most players are male, and most male players have male PCs. Males get 3 romance options, all of which are basically clerics, while females only get Anomen (yuck), another cleric. With a majority of male players, all of whom will roll 2 hours until they get a 96+, you don't need any high-powered guys, since you already have one. Jaheira and Mazzy are the only chicks with numerical stat scores even close to PC level.
So you have 3 clerics on one side with a few thief-mages, and a bunch of fighters, thieves, and a mage on the other. with each side having the same equipment accessible, Edwin gets the Staff of the Magi, Robe of Vecna, and various other magey-stuff, while the women have to divide it up. Clerics are also prone to spell disruption, since the Amulet of Power and Drow Chain+3 are the only ways to decrease casting time. Edwin is a conjurer (+his crazy amulet), so that makes up for Anomen's and Keldorn's foolish honor (a liability in this case).
This might make an interesting multiplayer game, but cheating is always a problem in duels of that nature.
