Yep, if you train any combo of major/minor skills up by 10 ranks, you gain a level.

To improve speechcraft, you must persuade (admire or taunt) people. To improve mercantile, you can bribe, or adjust the sale price of a trade.

BTW now would be a good time to include the link between leveling and ability modifiers.

All skills are tied to abilities, raising them allows you to increase your ability scores when you level up. You get three points to raise three abilities, modified by a multiplier.

Any combo of skill advancement contribute if you have patched the game. Only major/minor skills contribute for XBox or unpatched games.

10 ranks - 5x
8-9 ranks - 4x
5-7 ranks - 3x
2-4 ranks - 2x
0-1 ranks - 1x
