Actually, paying enough attention to continuity to have a character whose under a spell in the storyline meet their end if thay fail at their task even though theyre not actively in your group is pretty darn good game design....shows the amount of thought that was put into all the myriad story elements in the game. Would it have been better if Yoshi had gone on living, even though you know he was supposed to die from the geas if he failed at his task? Its really hard to understand the use of the phrase "bad game design " , when reffering to a game like BG2. You should probably go out and buy Pools of Radiance 2 so you have a basis for comparison and can better put things in perspective.
