Things are probably simply dissapearing, and a lock spell probably won't help. I'd suggest getting a "house" mod if you desperately need a place to store your stuff.
www.rpgplanet.com has an excellent Morrowind section and a good "house" mod called "A House in the Hill" or something close by, gives you a good house in Balmora with TONS of storage space.
