I'm stuck on the exact same duty. I went up *thought* I put the soul gem on the desk went back downstairs and ...nada it doesn't acknowledge that I did it. I went back upstairs and it shows the soul gem on the floor. Now I can't pick it up because it shows the mage's name on it and she is in the room so even if I wanted to I couldn't put it back on the desk. Any thoughts anyone? Has anyone else had problems or found a solution to this one?
