ex-Everquest player... sound like a twelve sets program to me
just kidding, I use to play lots and lots of EQ long ago, and most of the problems you find in Morrowind come from the transition from a multiplayer environment to a single player experience, the "turning head to tell about the cool sword" and don't find a friend there with you.
Most people that MUD's or online RPG's for a long time find themselves in the same situation, even a game full of faults can be fun if you have the social factor, the interaction with real people its hard to beat.
Morrowind is, as you say, a personal experience, try to change you mindset while playing, using a bit of imagination also play a huge role, single player games offer things most online games cant, the possibility of changing the world, deep storylines, tons of secrets that cant be spoil to you, and the ability of gaming at your own pace, exploit those benefits, and the 'personal' experience will become as good as the online or shared one.
of course... you can always wait until NWN come out
