DrowArchmage: In Tolkienesque settings and I think even in FR, elves already see quite well in the dark, so you wouldn't need the onyx ring at all. About the jade ring: as I said magic is mostly under the form of enchantments, so I would prefer if the jade rings effect was already included in the greatsword instead, and possibly activated by a word of command.

Drow don't exist in this setting, neither do shadow dragons (normal dragons do), so you couldn't be learning their languages. The language of orcs and goblins is the same so you can make those two one, even though it would be a very rare occurence for someone to learn the language, since there is no known use for it on Paradisia (no orcs or goblins have yet been seen there).
