Thank you all very much for the info. I think Sir Galahad nailed for me though. You can only duel class from a ranger to a cleric or a cleric to ranger.

I would have liked to dual (or multi for that matter) classed from a ranger/archer to a mage or thief or something but could never make it fly. Now I know why.

So much to learn so little time..
