Just because a character has an evil status in their imfo window doesn't mean that you have to play them as evil.
That is the most stupid and uninformed thing I have ever heard about a D&D game. If a character has an evil aligment, it is because he is EVIL. HE is not a good guy in disguise, he is EVIL. Can an evil character make an action that could perceived by someone else as a good action? Of course, but the character would have done it for his own purpose, not to be helpfull.

This is a roleplaying game. When you chose an aligment at the beggining of the game, you are saying "I want to act this way". When you are recruiting a character with a specific aligment, you also should roleplay the character according to his aligment. Yes, the character say or hint that he will do evil things, but will never do them because he is a npc, but this is a limitation of the engine, if you recruit a black hearted assasin in your group, he won't just become a nice guy all of a sudden. YOU, as a human being playing a game, know the character can't do anything. But your CHARACTER, being a character is a fictionous world, does not know that. All he see is an evil red mage of Thay (an evil group of mages) who assasinated a GOOD spellcaster, who doubtless killed a lot more people in his quest to power, who does not care about anyone else except him. Someone who like to see people suffer, hate good people, and would kill your character if he had a reason to.

Who cares whether or not its 'good' role playing Seeing as how youve never played an evil character before, who are you to say Edwin is a horrible choice for a good party, have you even played with him in your pary before?
If you where reading the board more, you would know that I have played evil character before, both in video games, and as a Dungeon Master.

You would also know that when I roleplay an evil character, I will do any evil act that would fit the character. As can be seen on this topic: The first post I made here.

http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=001659;p=5

I also have played as an evil character in this game, and found it boring because almost all the quests and dialogs are for good characters. I also think there is not enough evil characters. That is why I am working on an Evil Mod. As can be seen in this topic, as well as a few others before that:

http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...c;f=2;t=015095

AS you can see, I DO roleplay evil characters, and like it a lot. I am also working on a novel, I made a post about that too once, and I really like my evil characters in it.

I don't care weither Edwin is evil or not. I care about players who won't play the game as it should, or will conveniently forget the rules if it is to their advantages. I HATE ROLLPLAYERS. Why do you think they Added aligment to the game? Do you think it is just a little details there to fill a blank space? NO. It is a very important aspect of the game. Playing BG2 and not respecting aligments is like playing a mage and not learning any spells.

If you want to play an hack and slash game where you can do anything, then go play Diablo 2. It is a great game: http://www.blizzard.com/diablo2/

If you want to play a game where there is a great conflict on people's personality and opinion on how one should act in life, then play Baldur's Gate and other Infinity Engine game.
