OOC: Ahoy me hearties, and cous. Let's keep this barge afloat eh?
By the way cous, a cabin of your own? *smirks*
You must be playing someone important if you're not nested with all the rest of us
Darryn spoke to Phobic as he was told to 'watch for anyone who looks interested in joining,' whilst the captain walked 'over to his cabin.' I assumed that, since you were still recruiting, that meant Phobic was readily available for conversation near the plank. Other than that it's Darryn's mistake rather than mine
You've already resolved the situation by putting the cap'n out there though so I'll run with that.
IC:
While he might have doubts about some of the crew, the captain at least appeared able. It was a good nod. "Welcome aboard," the nod said, "you're hired as watchman at a rate as reasonable as your performance." And ignoring him, the captain added: "We'll be leaving soon, so don't take long settling in. Get started as soon as you're able."
Darryn respected people who could nod in meaningful ways. It beat shouting your lungs out in a storm a thousand to one.
"Name's Darryn," he told Phobic.
Wiping his nose, he looked around for a place to stow his kit.
