This is a one-quest game that is designed to be completed within a short time frame.
It is by invitation only.
Prologue
In one night, the entire village was destroyed. Under the blanket of darkness it came, and when the sun climbed the sky the next morning, all traces of the people that once lived there had vanished. No bodies of any once-living person or creature were recovered from the wreckage. The neighboring villages heard these rumors, and when they verified the act, chaos spread. Some packed up and left their homes, fearing that their lives were in danger as well. Others that refused to give up their homes began to sharpen blades and train younger men on the art of war. Mages and priests were called in, and although none of them could identify the catastophe that had taken place at Lomertown, they nevertheless guaranteed that their powers and their Gods would provide safety to those that had money to pay for their services.
Many other people did not have money to pay for help, nor experience with weapons. They had no place to go. These were the people that called for heroes to save them. Heroes were people who ventured far across the world to help those in need, for very little in return except public recognition for their duties. In this world, a man who had been entitled hero was free to walk among all peoples and places, eating meals for free, staying the night where they chose, and it seemed that the evil that they dealt with always had a stash of riches hidden away that made the danger worth the risk.
The poor people of Nashim have asked for such a hero or heroes to find the cause of the destruction of the neighboring village of Lomertown, and deal with it.
Setting
The village of Nashim is a two-day walk from the destruction of Lomertown. Word has passed around from town to town about the employ of potential hired mercenaries or skilled mages for the wealthy people. However, the poor have quieter voices that do not get shouted in the streets accordingly. These are the voices that beg for mercy from just men and women to help those that cannot help themselves. They cannot promise fortune like the wealthy can, but what little they have is freely offered.
The other two towns that are affected by this plague on the land are Ashra and Neomi. Nashim is the town most productive and most visited by merchants, so the plea for help would naturally be heard from there first and foremost.
The Mission
The three participants have been notified and are ready to begin the adventure.
1. Choose any character that you wish. I will allow anything that does not overpower the other players in your team.
2. You may play as a hired mercenary or a do-good'er. I'll fit the story around you.
3. The party leader will start the game where I tell him to in PM message, then I will determine where the others will be introduced into the party.
4. I am attempting to find a balance between story and action with this RP. I will keep record of points earned that will account for experience, but I ask that each player keep up with personal belongings, such as how many arrows you have left and how many times you can cast a certain spell. I cannot manage all that myself and trust you three to keep an honest check of your inventory. If you have a special item such as a ring of fire protection, just keep me informed and reminded when the time comes for me to cook you. PM is fine, or post a OOC, as you wish.
5. Any other rule that I am forgetting will be made up on the spot. Don't forget that you can actually DIE in one of my games! But I am a nice guy, so any contribution to the IW monthly donations box will earn you the favor of the cat god, Choc.
