The positive response Vincent was probably aiming for never occurred. Much to his surprise, Liam leapt to his feet, despite his back-breaking fall, and uttered a guttural snarl at the elf.
"Who gave you perrrmission to interrrvene?" he growled angrily at the elf, pulling the hood of his cloak back to reveal a normal, human face, albeit distorted by fury and indignation.
"Alrrready you have made me brrreak my prromise to herrr!" He raised a hand to his temples and looked up at the sky.
After a moment he had sufficiently calmed down and collected his senses.
"I am sorrry," he appologized.
"Therre was no way you could have known. Next time, howeverr, please make surre you arre needed in a fight beforre you join the melee. Things arre not always what they may seem."
And with that warning, the tall aristocrat bent over and slung Nanashi over his shoulder, a slight wince the only indication of his possible injuries.
"I'll meet you back at the taverrn," he called politely, before heading off in that direction.
