Actually (unless the DM says otherwise) unless the charmer does something to attack us, or orders us to do something against our natures then simply revealing what it truly is won't have any real effect on whether we're charmed or not, I for one would see the "removal of her illusion" as an illusion cast by our mage, and try to eliminate his threat so that the illusion will dissipate and I can be with "her" (and I'm using the term loosely).
