Anarrima never heard the voice of the dragon nor saw the momentary victory that had been granted while her and Ruby were given a few more minutes of life to suffer. Anarrima was frigid and lay collapsed upon the ground, shivering against it and unable to do anything about it.

Brendon was glad to have fought a good fight. He no longer had much faith in the future, nor to even help the druid face the Hunger that had been awakened on the other end of the field just now. These mere minions of death had robbed them of life before their mission could be completed.

He heard the dragon speak from seemingly far away and looked over at him, but was unable to talk. He looked over at the newly arrived Rhianneth who had attempted to help him bring the wolf down with fire but had failed, and now was returning his gaze. He could say nothing, for he heard the howls of more banewolves somewhere close by. The sound brought him back into a terrible feeling. He finally lost the ability to stand and fell to his knees. No longer having the strength in his arms to pull back the bowstring, he settled for grabbing for two arrows, one placed in the ground beside him and the other grasped tightly in his hand. He had no other weapon, but if it came down to it, he would fight until death with this arrow in his hand.

He took the few remaining seconds alotted them to breathe deeply and prepare for the final battle. he never even looked over at the druid still fighting with the horrible power of the Hunger. Doing so would have only costed him his remaining ounce of hope. He still held onto that one ounce.

Feeling the words form soundlessly upon his lips, he whispered, "Myron...where are you now?"

Echo realized that the mission was under the darkness of doom. With the giants nearby, and more hounds about...there was no way these gathered here today would have hope of winning.

Then the Hunger began to stir.

"No! The Hunger that brought forth the dawning of the death of Master!...of Master...Master!

I cannot be here!...be here!...here!

Rhianneth...you have failed the Master, and now I must go...must go...go..."

The Echo left Rhianneth defenseless against the audible sounds of the Banewolves.
