She circled the chamber cautiously, hands folded across her chest ~ Larry truly dead... ~ It was a bitter thought, that she had come so far only to have the truth verified by none other than the echo of his voice ~ Not that I didn't know... but I hoped against hope... and now... ~ She exhaled slowly ~ ... all hope is gone. Mistral has won.
What was there left to do, but accept this mocking reality? How could she argue against the heavens if they had shown their favour was with that raven-haired kensai-mage?
And what of those companions, as Father had appealed to me to avenge? Should I not save them, now that I have come so far?
It was incredible that her head was still heavy with doubts, even after that long, fitful sleep, and to top it off, here was the echo, beckoning to her, expecting an answer. Well, she would parry the questions as long as she could ~ I need all the time I can get, to clear my thoughts...
"I think I could ask you the same question." ~ Her tone was forcedly calm ~ "What would you have, Echo?"
