She had been grinning devilishly to herself in her solitude, when the elven lass approached her ~ And I thought I was the one who looked exotic. ~ A rueful smile crossed her lips, as she pictured herself dressed in her grander attire, against this maiden of unearthly beauty and grace. For a flitting moment, her eyes filled with real gratitude. Then, they clouded again.

"Food would be good." ~ Her voice was gruff, and her face, inscrutable. Slowly, her teeth sank into the loaf of fresh bread, whose aroma punctured her senses. As she chewed on, she blinked and her nose twitched. Abruptly, she shook her head, indicating she was full.

Head drooped, she turned away. But it was too late; the tears rolled down one by one, leaving trails of moist grime on her cheeks. Soon, she was bawling her lungs out, not realising that the bladebard had backed off hastily in the din she created. When she finally stopped, she glanced about her to find that the ethereal-looking creature had gone off, temporarily at least.

Drat...

Her lips pouted a little, then broke into a tiny smile.
