Gradually, she had willed herself into a familiar breathing pattern. In... out... in... out... and her mind seemed to be free from the terrifying thoughts that had plagued her recently, at least for the moment. Probably because she was now left alone in this dingy room.
Lying upon the bed, she closed her weary eyes and decided to take a little gamble. Before long, she had dozed off and a strangely peaceful smile was upon her dry, cracked lips.
