Alaerth was too enraged by the young elf's clear display of insolence to even pound his fist on the table and yell at everyone. No one besides Alliene and Alae had ever dared talk to him like that, and that had only been when he was younger, when Verloren was still the ruler.
Alliene herself looked quite amused and was having trouble keeping the wicked grin off her face. She instead turned to Gus and told him the bread was called sour dough.
During Arlyth's tyrade, Alae's face had gone blank, but now her eyes were as crimson as her brother's. She rose from the chair and left the hall without a word.

The princess reached the room Arlyth was using and opened the door, took a step in, and shut it sharply behind her. Arlyth could see she was quite angry, but he should have expected that. Before he could make any move or say anything, she grabbed his arm and swung him into a chair, then planted herself in front of it so he couldn't rise,
"Understand, young cousin, that the dangers we will face are much more dangerous than woodland monsters and drow. Alaerth and I have a right to worry about you. You however, do not have the right to speak to us in such a manner. Explain yourself."
