Alliene regarded her cousin with sharp calculating eyes that made him feel as if he were being frozen and picked apart,
"It is not your draconic blood that makes you cold, karik," her tongue pronounced the draconic word smoothly, her tone as cool as her eyes, "I have a great deal to think about, and I would prefer to be left alone. If you must stay here, you'll have to settle for sleeping on the floor and remaining silent," she examined her charcoal black skin with a frown and made a vexed sound. Already lost in thought, she moved from her cousin and picked up and ivory comb to smooth the tangles from her hair. After it shone like the moon, as it should, she did not return to her bed, but sat next to her window, staring out at the now clouded night sky.
