Here is an easy, albeit cheap, way of killing Kangaxx that is doable with a thief right away.
1. Pickpocket the Ring of the Ram from Tolgerias in the Council of Six Building in the Government District.
2. (Assuming you have all of the body parts) Go to Kangaxx's tomb and set 8-12 traps in the uppermost corner of the room.
3. Set about 8-12 traps right in front of the sarcophagus.
4. Open the sarcaphagus and the traps will kill his First Form.
5. Once his floating skull appears use the Ring of Ram to push him towards the uppermost corner. The traps will destroy his Demi-lich Form before he can imprison you.
On a side note, if you are a thief and are planning to dual class, it also works to set all your traps, then dual class, and then trigger Kangaxx.
I did this as a (solo) thief to fighter and ended up leveling up to level 6 fighter after Kangaxx dies.
