The elf in the tree watching you all on the ground has the vision of an elf from Lord of the Rings rule-base...so that takes care of that.
As to the terrain, I can only say that we are on a flat plain with grass as high as your hips in some places. The dirt is dry and rocky...and there is an old wagon-trail leading off into the distance in the direction we are heading, which I presume to be East. A forest is visible in that distance to those with elven sight.
Cyril can continue to describe the land in more detail if he chooses to do so.
