SIR BLANDAMOUR "Sir, you know of my sister, Lady Roxanne's plight? She was kidnapped by orcs who forced themselves upon her, and, it seems, is now pregnant with their seed. But, worse, I have learned that the child is no mere half-orc, difficult as that would be to bear, but the child of a lich, magically conceived! Tell me, what must be done?"
SIR MANDRACUS (His eyebrows shoot up.) "The child of a lich? Magically conceived? Ay, I have heard of such things. You are correct, the babe will be not part orc, but whatever race the lich was. I doubt that the child will thrive, though, absent the actual presence of the lich to sustain it. Such changelings are a sickly lot, deriving as they do their life from their parent's magic, rather than the rude life of a living creature. Bring the babe to me, when it is born, and I will scry out its attributes. But, you must abide by my judgement, for it is against my oath, and yours and the Lady Roxanne's, too, to let an evil creature go free. We shall see."
(Believing the interview over, the old man turns away, but B. has one question left)
SIR BLANDAMOUR "Sir, this locket was found in odd circumstances, and I have not seen its like. Can you tell us what it is, for good or ill?"
