LILYBLACK (After several days have passed, she finds her Mouse in his laboratory. He gives her a quick smile and goes back to a very delicate experiment. When it seems as if he has reached a stopping point, she addresses him) "Mousie, do you have any poisons here?" (He seems to consider, then replies,) "Why, Misling, I would think that a lady of your ... accomplishments ... would have many to hand." She replies) "Yes, but I want something special. The bitch Eliza travels with Sir Blandamour. It is well known that his healing powers are immense. He can nullify, ordinary poisons, even raise the dead. I want something that not even he can cure, and, if he resurrrects her, the poison will still be there, so she will just suffer and die, again." (He smiles, reaches up onto a shelf, and hands her a small, blue bottle. "This should do," he says simply. "It is the venom of the Kushite Mock Dragon. It does all that you say, but has one fault..." He never gets to finish, for she snatches it from his hand and disappears. He smiles a private smile, shakes his head, and goes back to work.
