Jas grabbed the mug of ale in front of him. Instead of drinking it, he just stared at his reflection. Tired green eyes stared back. "I'm being an old fool..." His nutty grin returned, and he picked up his mug. Now where is that grandson of mine. It wasn't hard to find Deiter in the almost empty tavern. Walking up to small group at end of the couch he coughed. "So how is our fragile friend doing?"
Deiter looked over at Chani's red face, and grinned. "Obnoxious is a new one." He laughed softly then turned at Jas' question. "She seems to be doing better. I'm not sure why she fainted though..."
Jas nodded, "Could of been heat stroke. Was pretty hot out today..." He drummed his fingers on the mug thinking to himself. Heat stroke.. gah! It's this place and certain people here... His eyes wandered over to Chani. He watched her for few seconds then looked over at Arrakis. It has to be her or both of them. Mistral didn't seem all that happy to see Chani.
He watched Jas study the other two half elves. Something was wrong, he could feel it. "Jas, can I talk to you outside?" Seeing the old elf nod, he let go of Chani and gave them an apologetic smile. "We'll be back." They walked a little ways from the tavern in silence. "You know something about why Mistral fainted."
Jas squinted from the light hitting his eyes. The orange light from the setting sun casting shadows on his face. "Don't worry yourself about it. You aren't meant to know everything and I doubt you need to know this.
Deiter groaned as he watched his grandfather. "That just made me have more questions. You're a stubborn old elf, I'm surprised you aren't out flaming the trees out here..." He said the last with a grin.
"Deiter my boy, If I set these trees on fire you know how many rangers I would have on my scrawny arse?" Jas laughed at the amused look on his grandson's face. "Ah, Deiter, you may find out, though it would be better to leave it unsaid here. Now you better get yourself back inside that tavern."
"Where are you going? Not to set trees on fire or bug those warders..."
"Those warders are a bunch of stiffs... I'll just be wandering around the village. Can't a old elf have some alone time?" Jas laughed again then started to walk off.
