(ooc: Gee, this is a rather unusual turn of events, Morgeruat. How did your paladin suddenly know of all this? And I thought Azrael intended the assassins to have been sent by his lich character rather than by any gods -- unless you mean to say that the lich was already as good as a god? Or maybe I'll attempt an explanation, yeah? ...)

Though Sir Morgeruat knew little of the Planes, he had nevertheless read a little of the terrible Dreadnought before and of Its temperaments. And he realised that the assassins were present in their astral form when he saw the silver cord attached to their backs.

"Sir Morgeruat is right!" cried Magnus. "A terrifying creature by that name does reside on this plane, and nothing upsets it more than hostile intrusions by astral beings projected here by magical spells! Quickly, we have to leave!"

The whole party swiftly left the place by the back door. Outside was Jah'zuer. "Hurry, this way!" cried the shopkeeper. As the adventurers ran they could hear coming from behind them a great roar which grew increasingly louder, and piercing screams... Meanwhile, the venom spread through the bodies of those struck by the darts, causing them increasing pain... (ooc: StoneRock, do a mass heal!! )

********************************

Lord Kuan gasped with consternation as he saw the Astral Dreadnought being roused from Its slumber by the disturbances caused by the astral intruders. Truly, this was a nontrivial occurence! Not that this creature could do anything to harm the gods directly, which It couldn't, but that It was at times known to be a terrible liability by upsetting the balance of energies between the Planes, resulting in the loss of millions of innocent lives in the mortal world -- a great source of grief for the gods of good. One such catastrophe in fact took place just three thousand years ago, when he, one of the mightiest of all gods, had to intervene personally, and managed to subdue this creature with his Halberd of the Constellations and lock It away in the Astral Plane only after a fierce battle that lasted seven times seven days and nights.

Just then Tsao the page returned. "My apologies, Great Lord. Your humble servant again requests an audience."

"What news again, Tsao?"

"The Great Clangeddin has come to pay a visit, Great Lord, together with three envoys from the God of the Most Radiant Heart. They await in the Grand Hall!"
