For Raymond
The Steeplewood Forest
THE GROVE
“Shhhh!” Ligeia laughs softly to Raymond. “Never interrupt a woman when she’s opening up the mysteries of her past.” She rises to her feet and Aesop bounds quickly to her side. “Come, and I will show you to a place of rest.” Leaving the others to continue their conversation, she leads the young man across the grove to the other side of the great tree. Moving through an opening in a stand of laurel near the stream that runs from the spring at the grove’s entrance, she stops at a small hillock and whispers a few words in a strange language. An opening appears in the hillock. “The clasp I have given you will allow you to enter and leave this space without difficulty. Inside you should find all that you need.” Bending to scratch Aesop between the ears, she looks up at him and smiles, “Rest well, my friend. And tomorrow we shall see to your desire to remain among us.”
ooc: Inside the hillock awaits a simply furnished, but quite comfortable room.
