Did you ever get the Cloak of Non-detection? Because that might help you against the Drows being able to detect invisibility. It worked for me. I think I got it from a mage either the one with the slaver quest or Mencar Skullcrusher. It didn't work with some spirit monsters but it should work with the Drow and maybe the beholders (not sure because I've not tried with them yet).
