Invisible dagger clenched in his fist, Varja hurried along with the others. Though he had seen fighting before, and considered himself quite capable at that, the amulet around his neck completely altered the experience.
Arms holding swords left a trail behind as they arced down and at times he thought he faced two men when there was only one. At the same time, blood and sweat overpowered his senses while the shouting nearly deafened the mage.
It took a lot of concentration and effort to stay focussed, and Varja was glad for his training, as the exercises he was taught helped to keep him steady.
He lashed out with his weapon once or twice, causing the invisibillity spell to fail, but whether or not he hit his mark did not register in his mind. As they came nearer the throneroom, Varja decided that the amulet would not help him in battle, and he removed it.
