Raymond and Isaura
Raymond sat outside the tent all night. Isaura had been sleeping peacefully. When the morning rays broke over the horizon, he could hear her stirring from within. He had stayed up all night, the pain in his arm and chest hurting too much to sleep. He had sufficiently stopped the bleeding, but the loss of blood was starting to make him very weak. Inside the tent, Isaura spoke.
"Raymond? Is everything okay? How are you?"
"Oh, I...I'm fine, but will need to get this arm looked at soon. How are you?"
Isaura stepped out of the tent, rubbing her neck where the mad man-beast had grabbed her.
"I am fine, I guess. My neck is a little tender from last night. But I will be okay. Are you sure that arm of your's is going to be okay?"
"Well, it has stopped bleeding, thugh it hurts, of course. I say that we get onto the road as soon as we are ready to go. I would really like to see a doctor, or something. "
And so, they had a quick breakfast of berries that grew along the path and some dried bread that had been with them in travelling. They sat out on the road, and began to walk.
They kept rather quiet, both pondering the dangers that had been presented them the night before, and what else they might meet along the way. Raymond had asked a little about Isaura's magic and how she had learned it, but Isaura was not up to telling a long story. She promised to speak on it again, when they were safe and well.
By the time that the sun was low in the sky, they happened upon a single log home in the woods. Cautiously, they approached this home and knocked on the door. An old, happy looking man greeted them.
The travellors quickly explained that they had been wandering in the wilderness for some time, and had been attacked by wild beasts, though they mentioned nothing aboutn it being a panter-were. In fact, they were both trying to forget that, as well. The old man, welcomed them into his home and spoke, thus:
"Ere now! Come inside and lets look at that those cuts! I have some medical supplies and a couple healing potions available. Please, come inside!"
"Sir, I am afraid we are without money, but if we may work off our debt to repay you for the kindness, I am a skilled farmer, and offer my service to you, while this wound heals".
"And I can offer my cooking and cleaning service to you, as well."
So, the old man became busy, looking for his cures and bandages. Within an hour, he had redressed the wounds and had poured a bottle of healing potion down Rayond's throat. Isaura began immediately, in cleaning up his house and even asking if there was any sowing to be done. Raymond was already feeling well enough to offer weeding the garden before sunset. But the old man smiled and said,
"Please, take a seat and rest a while. I have been widowed now for 3 years and would like some company. Tell me, what news have you of the world?"
Raymond and Isaura took turns, describing where they were from and how they had ended up together and here at the present time. The old man was grateful to have guests, and at nighttime, he showed them to their rooms with a promise of the biggest breakfast they had ever seen awaiting them in the morning. They each took to their separate room and found sleep instantly.
OOC>>>How was that?
