The rather luckless individual who you'll see wandering about my infequent posts is Tancred Foesmyte, a young holy warrior trained in the arts of slaying dragons, battling demons and generally being heroic (a Cavalier, to all you anal types). Black-haired and tall, and with an outlook on the world based on indomitable optimism, he wanders the RPG board on a never-ceasing journey, clad in tarnished and battered plate armour and carrying a sack of various sandwiches over his shoulder.
His quest is a bizarre one. In his hand he holds a glowing golden sword, a holy relic that once belonged to his great-grandmother, the Paladin Truori Foesmyte. Inside the blade she trapped the soul of one who was once an unholy terror; the ancient Wizard, Karnas Thoth. It is the eternal quest of the Foesmyte line to carry Karnas until such time as the evil Wizard finally turns to good. The sword cannot be used by one who is not of Tancred's bloodline - though Tancred himself has not yet realised this means finding a woman and starting a family at some point, or else undo the quest.
So far, there has been precious little evidence of such a change; Karnas is still as unpleasant and sarcastic as he ever must have been, and seems to regard his life as a word as a fairly good thing; a kind of immortality, even if he is without his magic. The sword seems to gift Tancred with some impressive resilience to spellcraft, though - most likely the soul of Karnas still holds some potency, for if ever the Foesmyte line was to die out, the quest would end and Karnas' soul would be sucked down to where it belongs. I daresay neither of them wants that.
