As she enters her apartment, she slams the door shut and locks it right away. Looking down at her pants, she realises to her horror that she is still wearing an apron from that loathsome restaurant! Her cheeks redden as she remembers the funny stares thrown in her direction earlier ~
Good grief! What a fool I've made of myself! And on two occasions within a single day, too! I need a break.
Flinging herself onto the sofa-bed, she stretches out, her hands wavering as they almost touch the telephone. ~
Should I or should I not? ~ In truth, she has seldom called anyone all this while. Pride has kept her impulses in check; it will never do to let others know how she had been so unceremoniously dumped and the subsequent downward spiral of her career.
From a secretary down to a temporary worker at the restaurant. And this last job had been given based on her looks, too... it is far too depressing for her. She closes her eyes, trying to blot out the wave of pessimism threatening to drown her.
"It's all Albert's fault." ~ She whispers in self-consolation ~ "If only he would come back. Everything would be the same again. I know it."
But he is not coming back. ~
