In behalf of Killing Spree...

(ooc: I swear on Deiter's head Neb, took me most of my 3 hours to type that. Oh and I counted all my elves. There are 79 of them. ~Eyes bug out of head~ OK... The saga continues...)

Quabola Wolfrun

~His mournful howl was complete, he looked sorrowfully to the sky. Oh my child... Why did you venture so far? He regained his footing and yipped for his apprentice. He motioned for the boy to follow as he padded back to the winding mile.~

Shaw Foresthide

~He stepped forward, his dark brown eyes averting worridly. He looked a lot like his older brother, Locke, but there was skeptic that he could be as accomplished as his sibling. There was even a rumor that Locke would be chosen for the lythari! But, it was none-the-less a rumor, Barder had a way with blowing those out of proportion. His head snapped quickly as growl came from Li's throat.~

Quabola Wolfrun

~As he walked, he shifted back to his elven form. Straightening his leather coat, he looked down at his young apprentice.~ "Concentrate Shaw. The events that your brother spoke of in the tavern are nothing of your concern. Hence, I kept you away." ~His pale skin glistened in the moonlight.~

Shaw Foresthide

~He nodded his head quickly. He looked up at Li's forboding form.~ "I'm only curious... Sir." ~His face looked worridly upward.~ "I want to know what's happening!"

Quabola Wolfrun

~A soft smile crept across his face. He looked down at the boy and ruffled his dark hair.~ "Curiousity killed the cat." ~He chuckled.~ "And unfortunately you don't have nine lives to spare."

Shaw Foresthide

~He sighed, his little shoulders heaving. He looked up at the moon momentarily. A contented smile crossed his face. I'll just ask the birds tommorow... Thrashers have been getting sneaky on Oriel.~

Meanwhile...

Arrakis Ravenwood

~Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, Nashkel, Umar, they all passed in a flash. Maverick had been comparitavely hasty getting to Ravenwood within a week. With an elven beast Arrakis was in Athkatla within three days. He sighed, looking at his horse's heavy head.~ "I should have asked where in Athkatla Chani is." ~He heaved, walking across the cobbled streets.~ "Maybe we should just find a place to rest." ~Cacao suddenly reared up and he struggled to keep hold of the horse's reins. He yelled out.~ "Whoa! Whoa Cacao!" ~The bridle snapped and the horse ran off in terror, out of Athkatla, out of sight. Arrakis hissed most loudly.~ "Leucrotta!" ~He looked around in some fury.~ "Now what in the nine hells scared my horse?!" ~A growl was sounded and he turned around, his face turning slightly pale. At his knee was a steel-colored wolf. One eye was the normal brown, the other was an obviously blind and rather disturbing crystalic blue.~ "Gods..." ~The wolf growled again, and tugged at Arrakis' trousers. The man held up his hands in defeat.~ "All right, all right." ~The wolf dragged him along to the gates, in front of a tavern with a glistening copper sign.~ "The One-Eyed Wolf." ~He turned to look down at the wolf, but it had padded inside and was now busily distracting the bar-tender. The wolf jumped on the man and began licking him profusely. No watch. A perfect time to sneak away.~

In The Confusion...

Arrakis Ravenwood

~He understood now. Chani was in this tavern. Up the stairs, probably sleeping. He nodded his head in grim determination. The archer took a single arrow from his quiver and tied it to some strong rope. There was an open window on the second floor. (Deiter had opened it earlier that day to give Chani some fresh air.) He silently climbed up the rope and peered inside the window. He could hear soft breath, and a troubled squirm. A scythe on her right wrist glowed softly. His own scythe was tingling at the closeness of his goal. He sidled next to the bed, looking down at his sister. He whispered softly to her tapered ear, as if words of any volume would wake the dead.~ "Wake up little one. Wake up." ~He looked silently down as she squirmed.~

Chani Ravenwood

~Her brow furrowed at the voice. Without opening her eyes she spoke.~ "Deiter?" ~She opened her eyes slowly, taking a moment to focus. She sprung upright and opened her mouth to scream for help.~

Arrakis Ravenwood

~He put a hand over her mouth.~ "Hush Chani! It's me!" ~He tugged at his shirt to show her the scythe on his collarbone.~ "See?"

Chani Ravenwood

~She bit his hand and he drew it back with haste. Her face was confused and dis-oriented. She whispered.~ "What the hell are you doing here?" ~She noticed the arrow above her window and that her door was still closed.~ "Why do you have to sneak here to see me?" ~She looked towards the door.~ "Surely Deiter..."

Arrakis Ravenwood

~He interrupted, his face showing edginess and concern.~ "There is no time to explain! I can only say that you are in grave danger little one. You must come with me now." ~He tugged at her hand.~ "Please Chani, don't make this hard."

Chani Ravenwood

~She shook her head slowly.~ "What danger? Why must I go now? Where's Deiter?" ~Her heart beat more rapidly. She wanted to cry, she was so confused! She looked at her brother's calm sympathetic face.~ "Arrakis!"

Arrakis Ravenwood

~He looked sadly at her, pulling a bottle from his pocket.~ “I’m sorry. Sleep well little one.”

Chani Ravenwood

~She felt the impeding darkness. She could hear her rushing heart steady, slow. She held the emerald dragon amulet around her neck for support. The clasp broke and her grip was numb. She heard the necklace fall to the ground. A poisoned sleep.~

Arrakis Ravenwood

~He quickly gathered her unconscious form and slipped down the rope. Past had apparently herded his horse, and he moved with a stealthy haste. He swung his sister onto the front of the saddle, then scrambled behind her. With a last mournful look to the moon, he urged his horse through the gates of Athkatla. Out of the city. The children of the night were gone.~

Four Days Later…

Chani Ravenwood

~She had only awoken an hour before. She somehow felt rejuvenated by the sleep, and was not hungry nor thirsty nor sickly or weak. She was only conscious of the tears streaming down her face. Arrakis sat mechanically behind her. They rode into Ravenwood. A crowd had gathered. It was a small one. Somehow the town must have known how distressed she would be. Locke helped her off the horse. His dark eyes were sad. He forced a thin smile. Her friends surrounded her, but she felt emptiness. So many sad eyes. Brown eyes, green eyes, blue eyes, gray eyes, hazel streaked with sage, Faline’s catlike eyes, Jasmine’s violet eyes that everybody envied. None of these faces could fill the hole. She looked at Locke questionably.~ “Where is Li?” ~She spoke quietly.~

Quabola Wolfrun

~The tall man strode forward, his eyes more mournful than all the others combined. The mere sight of him could bring about an ocean of tears. His arms encircled her comfortingly. He whispered.~ “Welcome home my child. Welcome home.”

Chani Ravenwood

~She wanted to cry out, This isn’t my home! I belong back in Athkatla, in my tavern, with my friends, with Deiter! But something about the tall elf’s grasp made her understand the cloud of concern the entire village held over her un-suspecting head. She stepped back and looked into her mentor’s eyes.~ “Li… What’s going on?” ~Her watery grey blue eyes met his bright green ones.~

  • A confused Larry will get a sudden vision: Chani’s sad-eyed friends.
  • Mistral will see Arrakis’ face, the familiar grey-blue eyes, the scar over the right eye, and the red scythe glowing at his collarbone.
  • Chaos will stop dead in his tracks, as if he were listening to something. His eyes will flash green again and he will howl out as a grown wolf would.
