When I was there (I've only played 1 full game), I got almost all the way to the surface by accident--I was exploring the Kau-Toa lair and got to the ruins where you see Drow and Surface Elves fighting each other. Then I realized I might be cutting off some quests/EXP/items, and headed back to Ust Natha. So I'm about 90% sure it can be done, but I'm just hoping that leaving the Underdark early won't erase the rest of the quests.......I'm almost ready to leave for Brynnlaw anyway, so I guess I'll find out.
I really want to do the Underdark with my Evil party. I can't wait to see what Korgan looks like as a Drow!
