Upon reaching the relative safety of Tyrestria, Hiram and Breanna set about finding suitable lodgings and a stable. Hiram sees to the horses while Breanna enters Horath's Inn and Tavern where Sephiroth has gone. Surveying the area, she sees a couple of dwarves engaged in conversation in the corner. Several human males are at the bar trying to gain the attention of the serving lass and a couple of elves sit at a table speaking in whispers. Seph is accepting a room key from the innkeeper. Breanna approaches them...

"Excuse me. I will be needing three rooms please, one with an extra pallet." She hands over some coin to the innkeeper and accepts her keys. Seph is on his way upstairs and she calls to him. He grumpily returns to where she is waiting. "What?" asks Seph in a surly tone. "I just want to get something straight with you. I can use your talents on this quest, but we all have to get along here. I don't know what your issues are with the sorcerer, Neb, or with Greymane, but watch your step. You aren't invincible and I don't want any fights starting up in this company. If you have issues, deal with them, but don't blame me if Neb blows you to bits or Azurian tears your throat out. Just a warning, my friend. Know that, until you give me reason to doubt you, I count you as part of this team and an important part at that. Please try to channel this anger elsewhere, alright? This quest is too important for petty squabbles to interfere. I'm not trying to tell you to be friends, but play nice, okay?" Seph nods and mumbles something noncomittal under his breath and heads up to bed. "Oh, and one more thing, Seph...don't EVER disrespect Hiram like that again. I promise - you won't like the consequences if you do."

Breanna goes back outside to find Azurian and Neb unsaddling and currying the mounts in the stable behind the inn. She hands each a key to a room, although she wonders if Greymane wouldn't prefer to sleep outside. He is a strange one, but his courage in battle has earned her undying respect and gratitude. She smiles at him and he flashes a quick one in return, showing his unusual teeth. Much like a wolf's grin. She wonders to herself if he can fully shapeshift or if this is just an abberation in his people....

She doesn't see Link at first...he's by himself at a well near the center of two roads which intersect just down from the inn. He's gazing up at the sky. Breanna confidently approaches Link. He looks at her, then motions for her to sit. "I felt you earlier, reading auras. I'm very sensitive to the usage of magic. How is it you, a fighter, came to be able to weave magic?" Link only looks up to the sky again, silent. "If you'd prefer, I will leave you be." "No," Link says "stay a moment, please. I'll tell you." Link summons the strength to tell his story and to take the chance to trust again...even if only for this once. The moon rises higher as Link tells his tale while Breanna listens intently. Finally, he is finished and they see Hiram heading towards them. He brings them both a bowl of stew and a loaf of bread and sits. "Ye'd best be eatin' that and headin' up to bed soon. I'm off to set up our pallets, m'Lady. The horses are tended to and all seems quiet tonight." With that, Breanna hands Hiram their key and Link his and Hiram heads back to the inn. The two eat in silence. "Do not fear that I will betray your trust, Link. You are now a part of my company and you will be treated with respect amongst us. I will not let you down, my friend." "Thank you. That means a great deal to me." Breanna gives Link's shoulder an affectionate squeeze and the two head to the inn for some rest....~

OOC - sorry, guys, that this took me so long to prepare. It took some reading and re-reading to try to make sure I incorporated everyone's input. I hope I did okay. Hiram: your turn, hon.

The creaks and groans of the floor did nothing to keep up the adventurers. They were happy to be inside and dry. Hiram slept on the floor near Breanna’s bed. He woke once when he thought he heard something. It seemed that the next door neighbors were being amorous again. “Silly Humans, just like bunny rabbits” Hiram then began to settle back down and to relax once more. He thought back to years ago when he and Breanna first met. She was raised as his sister. That of itself was an odd occurrence. It took quite some time for Hiram to trust her. He was told by many of his friends that humans want nothing more than to cause trouble and rape the land.

Breanna was different than any other human he had come into contact with. She had a strength that belied her frame. She was slow to temper and very quick witted. This half-elf had not felt welcome for the first 10 years of her life. Humans treated her with contempt and Elves ignored her. The dwarves in Hiram’s village were used to travelers and the occasional orphan who had nowhere else to go. Hiram’s mother had insisted on taking in Breanna as soon as she saw the half elf. While Hiram was mining with his cousins, Breanna would wander around the village and speak with the inhabitants. She read absolutely every book she could find. She once found a traveling merchant who was selling books. Breanna convinced the merchant to sell her all of his books if she could get Hiram to fix the merchant’s wagon.

Hiram chuckled to himself and turned over to look at Breanna’s sleeping form. He then saw movement by the window. There were two figures looking inside of the window~
