The Naga or the priestess??
Must mean the Naga since the exit after killing the priestess is right behind the altar. Have you managed to find the rooms with the lifts - lots and lots of lifts?? In the NE room you might note that the lift to the North does not work. To get it to work you need to get yourself to the SW room where there is a lever (also a lock which you cannot open just yet. Flip the lever, get back the NE room and you should be on your way to meeting another Temple bigwig. Talk nicely to him (oh, I guess you could just kill him too)and you get the key that will let you get to the undertemple, the priestess, a way back into the main temple you've come to dislike and finally back outside.
