I agree with SoaS that it depends on what race, gender, and class you're going to play. An elf would have a more elegant name than a dwarf or human, and a fighter would have a harsher sounding name than a mage or cleric. I use a Latin dictionary and a Gaelic/Scottish name book to come up with ideas for names I use. For example my female thief was Neilina, and my elven fighter was Alasdair.
