I am of the opinion that most of these items are Bug fixes and though some are just add-ons or enhancements, alot of the time they were developed to fix a problem.
If you go to Balderdash you will see that Kevin is of the same opinion. In the case of the merchants, I believe he says something about it was publicly released by Interplay.
