I've managed to beat Kangaxx twice from about 10 times. Party make-up is Minsc - lvl 12 ranger, Jaheira - lvl 10 fighter lvl 12 druid, Aerie - lvl 10 priest lvl 11 mage, Anomen - lvl 7 fighter lvl 15 priest, Keldorn - lvl 11 paladin, and me - bnty huntr lvl 15.

I read about using protection from undead scrolls to make the fight easier but never tried it simply because I didn't think it was a last resort issue. My first time beating Kangaxx was after many failed attempts and many imprisonments. I noticed Gaxx seeing thru Anomen's sanctuary spell when Anomen was too close so he got imprisoned easy as did Keldorn and Minsc who were too close in melee range. I had invissed my main guy to stick em safely in a corner. I only had Jaheira, Aerie, and PeeWee left. I also tried the pickpocket trick before he was hostile, and it seems to work too easy - dun need two rings. Reload.

The second time I beat em, I let things run as they should and just hasted my guys to beat the first lich( still was a pain) and as soon as I saw the demi lich form emerging I put Aerie with her spell trap protection up front to soak up the imprisonments(this seems to be vital if you don't use pro undead scrolls). Minsc died a timely death right before the demi took shape so he was safe - I'd rather have em die than be imprisoned(and this was intended). Both of my successes involved Aerie soaking up the imprisonment spells with her spell trap, from her staff of the magi, while my other guys stood back to use ranged weapons. Aerie would deal out 1-2 dmg while Jaheira dealt 1 dmg. Was a long long fight. No other ranged weapons were effective.

I've thrown every harmful spell I could at the demi lich and now think it's 100% magic resistant. I also believe it's resistant to alot of melee attacks. First few games, Keldorn did land some 3-4 dmg hits with his Carsomyr(then he quickly got imprisoned- won't try that again til later). I'm thinking only +5 weapons affect the demi lich at this point. Only +5 weapons I have are the staff of magi, Carsomyr, and sling of everard.

The second win was where I saved to have 1 gaxx ring. Really nice and well worth it. I was a bit disappointed that it just ended but oh well.

My questions: is the demi actually 100% magic resistant? LR doesn't seem to work at all. Harmful spells(finger of death, insect plague, false dawn, skull trap) after 3-4 dooms don't land. Most melee is out unless you are protected from undead. Next few games, I'll see how I can improve MR on Keldorn if that helps against the imprisonment spell and look that spell up to see if it has a saves.

I can think of only two ways to beat the demi, one being what I did and the other using the protection scrolls. Are there any other ways out there to beat him? I have't tried AOE spells nor used the wand of cloudkill on em since I think it doesn't work. Just wanted to know about how many different methods would work here. Aerie going it alone didn't help since it regens faster than she could land enough 1-2 dmg hits. I knew this would be a tough fight and a good one but damn... it left me with soooo few options. Makes me think I'm overlooking simpler tactics like using the pro undead scroll.

Thanks for reading.
