I think what happened was that Edwin failed his save when Firkragg casted Dragon Fear. Casting Resist/Remove Fear beforehand will solve that problem. Try saying to Firkraag that ur gonna fight him then Edwin will say "Moronic fool u wish to fight this ancient reptile? I will not be a part of this" or something like that, then he will leave ur party.
