Does this actually work? In a long-ago console game, there was this boss npc that couldn't be targetted by magic. So one of the ways to beat him was to have him use his own spells against em. He casted against someone who had this sort of shield up and it rebounded back to him and penetrated his own shield. ALA- dead boss. Since the boss npc was the original caster, it wasn't as if a hostile spell was used targetted towards him.
I think it is somewhat the same here too. I read a post saying that if an npc mage casts upon your shields and die from his own rebounding spells, you may be missing out on either goods, exp, and information since it wasn't actually -you- who killed em. Maybe it's only the latter since game triggers can't be met to sequence proper dialogue, but I'm thinking it can be the same way with loot - npc has to die by a player character and not by his own spells before the loot drops.
I've wondered about this but can't try it right now. Will definitely have to get two mages and see who takes dmg.
