this is the solution to the fighter/cleric problem: Paladins
at level 17 (BG2 highest level) they have level 14 turn undead, which will make a skeleton warrior get fear instntly, and have spells: 3 1st lvl, 3 2nd lvl, 3 3rd lvl and 1 4th lvl.
this means you can have a load of lowish healing spells as well.
nb i would still have Aerie and/or Jaheira with this as they are both good npcs
